How does this course work?

  • Learn from anywhere. It’s entirely online—if you’ve got an internet connection, you can do it!
  • Learn on your own time. Are you free early in the morning? After work? Only on weekends? No problem—you have weeks to complete the course, and the material will remain online indefinitely as a resource to you. On average, you can expect to spend about one hour a day.
  • Connect with Gloria. You’ll have opportunities to interact directly with Gloria Feldt, creator of the Power Tools, and benefit from her 40 years of leadership experience.
  • Show off your new skills. If you successfully complete the course, you’ll earn a Leadership Certificate for your resume or CV.

Course Syllabus

Week 1: Defining Power and Leadership
We’ll begin by reviewing classic definitions of power and surveying the current status of women in the workplace and civic life. We’ll also show you how to redefine power to give you a more positive and expansive conception of this often-misunderstood term.

Week2 Week 2: Power Tools
The second lesson introduces all nine Power Tools, giving you exercises that will help you incorporate them into your career right away. Along the way, we’ll review tips on “gender bilingual communication,” showing you how to improve your communication with anyone in the workplace, male or female.
Week3 Week 3: Networking and Negotiating
This lesson starts with practical negotiating skills from the experts at She Negotiates. We’ll walk you through the process of researching your worth so you’re ready for your next real-life negotiating situation. We’ll also show you how to network with purpose, with assignments to put your new knowledge into action.
Week4Week 4: Strategic Leadership Action Plan
It’s time to put it all together! During the final lesson, you’ll lay the groundwork for your future success by writing your own Strategic Leadership Action Plan that incorporates all the Power Tools and skills you’ve picked up throughout the course. You’ll also receive advice on strengthening your plan from Gloria and your other classmates. When you’re done, you’ll be armed with a new career blueprint and ready to take on the world!

About The Instructor


Gloria Feldt is the Co-Founder and President of Take The Lead. A nationally renowned speaker, leader, and bestselling author, she has been a lifelong advocate for women. When she discovered that women had been stuck at 18 percent of top leadership positions for two decades, she knew she had to find a way to change that. The result: she wrote the bestselling book No Excuses: 9 Ways Women Can Change How We Think About Power to give women practical Leadership Power Tools that break down barriers to their personal and professional success and help them embrace their power with intention to lead and live without limits. In 2012, as a result of this work, she cofounded Take The Lead, with the mission to bring women to leadership parity across all sectors by 2025.
