Women Like You Take The Lead: Eva Shang
Take The Lead salutes women who are doing extraordinary things in their communities. We will be recognizing women as part of our Women Like You Take The Lead campaign in the weeks leading up to the Take The Lead Challenge Launch Event on February 19th. Contact us, and we might feature her!Eva Shang is a 17-year-old powerhouse who is already an established activist for children, girls, and human rights. Eva served as Teen Advisor to the United Nations Foundation campaign Girl Up, which seeks to mobilize American girls to raise funds and awareness for UN programs that support girls in developing countries. She is a Girl Scout Gold Awardee and has been honored by the Philadelphia City Council as a “Rising Star,” part of Philadelphia’s Next Generation of Women’s Leadership. Oh, and did we mention she was the first Junior Delegate to the national gender equality movement Vision 2020: Equality in Sight? As a Junior Delegate, Eva helped found the Junior Branch for both high school and college. Eva currently attends Harvard University and blogs for both Take The Lead and the Huffington Post. Eva serves as an activist for SPARK a Movement, where she is one of 30 girls selected from around the world to demand an end to the sexualization of girls in media.
