The Power to Give Agency to The Voiceless Through Healthtech

While in medical school, I met countless doctors who wanted to help patients but who were thwarted from doing just that. In particular, I saw how doctors weren’t empowered by technology; they were held hostage by it. This didn’t sit well with me. I knew tech could be a transformative force. So, I set off to find innovative approaches outside of traditional healthcare to make a real difference in the lives of real people.

After working with several healthcare startups, pediatric care stood out as a unique area, especially food allergy care for kids. Pediatric care has always lagged behind in healthtech innovation. But with Covid-19, it became clear that parents craved convenient access and loved telehealth. More than that, parents also wanted their kids to receive the best care from the best doctors, especially for kids with chronic conditions. I saw how an online platform could provide both convenience and quality.

That’s why I built Super Awesome Care, a platform that gives parents and their kids the right tools, access to experts, and the guidance necessary to navigate their food allergies.

Technologies and platforms like Super Awesome Care can help make up for the failings of traditional healthcare by providing a team-based approach rather than treating each encounter as a transaction. We live in parents’ pockets and are available whenever they need us, which means we conform to their needs, not the other way around.

We all recognize shortcomings of traditional healthcare solutions. It takes founders willing to challenge the status quo to solve those problems.
