The Power To Build With Purpose

I grew up watching my father build Skil-Care from the ground up. As a child, I didn’t fully understand what he was creating, but I understood the work ethic behind it. Nights, weekends, travel, and a belief that the work mattered shaped my early understanding of what it meant to build something with purpose.
Skil-Care was created to make healthcare environments safer and more humane. From the beginning, his focus was on dignity and safety for people who are often overlooked. My father cared deeply about patients, nursing home residents, and caregivers doing demanding work every day. Those values became the foundation of our company.
That same focus became personal for our family when my grandfather died in a hospital due to neglect. His death could have been prevented with the right support. Losing him changed how I understood the stakes of this work. What happened to him fueled my father’s determination to do better, and now it fuels mine. It is a responsibility I bring to my leadership every day.
For most of my life, I never imagined I would build upon what my father created. Today, as president of Skil-Care, I have the privilege of working alongside my father and my husband. Leading a mission-driven business as a family brings both meaning and accountability.
I come from a design, teaching, and art background, and that perspective shapes how I approach this work. My focus is on bringing color and warmth to products traditionally sterile and functional. Safety doesn’t have to feel cold or institutional. It can feel thoughtful, human, and comforting.
My focus for 2026 and beyond is practical innovation that improves safety and quality of life, without ever compromising dignity. Sometimes change does not come from disruption, but from paying closer attention to people who need care
