The Power of Story to Own Your Voice

Throughout my long creative career, I have had to stand up for myself time and again. Whether hired to write or rewrite a script, act in a commercial, or develop a new creative concept, I have often had to fight just to get paid, and have seen my own work and ideas taken without proper credit, a reality that many women and creatives still face today.

That experience became part of the driving force behind EVOKE, the company I founded to make a real difference in my own community. I saw talented, capable people holding themselves back because of the limiting stories they believed about themselves, and I set out to build a creative, practical methodology to help them build confidence and rewrite those narratives. What began as a framework for actors and artists has since expanded to founders, leaders, educators, and organizations, helping a much wider range of people show up more authentically in both their work and their personal lives.

For me, change also begins internally. When things feel uncertain, I lean into certainty, using Heart Intelligence practices to quiet the noise, connect with my heart, and trust my own inner wisdom, a daily discipline that helps me respond with clarity instead of fear. As an entrepreneur, I have the rare opportunity to build the workplace I have always dreamed of, one intentionally rooted in creativity, trust, and systemic wellness rather than left to default.

I draw inspiration from leaders like fashion designer and entrepreneur Aurora James, who used her own vision to create the Fifteen Percent Pledge, challenging an entire industry with one bold idea. She proved that meaningful change starts with someone willing to take the first step, a reminder that real leadership isn't about having power first, but the courage to act before you do.
